Fiberglass Material Council Activities Update

At the AAMA National Summer Conference, held in Minneapolis, MN, many of the Fiberglass Material Council task groups and committees held meetings. Council members reviewed documents and discussed marketing opportunities in order to continue to act as an information provider and promoter of fiberglass in the fenestration and related building products industry. FMC Marketing and Membership Committee
A motion was made during the FMC Marketing and Membership Committee meeting to change the name of the Committee to “FMC Marketing Committee.” The group also requested to remove the last sentence from the scope, which refers to membership. The motion passed unanimously and moving forward, member recruitment activities will be assumed at the Council level.
FMC 112 Task Group
During the FMC 112 Task Group meeting, a motion was made to disband the FMC 112 Task Group, in addition to publishing a new version of AAMA 112-11, Procedural Guide for the AAMA Fenestration Exterior Fiber Reinforced Thermoset Profile Certification Group. Both motions passed unanimously. The FMC 112 Task Group published AAMA 112-11 on July 7.
FMC Finishes Committee
During the FMC Finishes Committee meeting, the group approved AAMA 633-11, Voluntary Specification, Performance Requirements and Test Procedures for Exterior Stain Finishes on Wood, Cellulosic Composites and Fiber Reinforced Thermoset Window and Door Components, which will be published by August 5. The Committee also decided to stay together to make enhancements for future standards, and to review statistical data that will be added to the document in the future. FMC Molded Aliphatic Polyurethane Committee
The FMC Molded Aliphatic Polyurethane Committee discussed the publication of AAMA 113-11, Procedural Guide for the AAMA Fenestration Exterior Components Certification Program for Molded Aliphatic Polyurethane Elastomer Frame Materials. Robb Plagemann (Tecton) and Bob Sampson (RCS Consulting) are going to discuss whether the Committee should be disbanded. The FMC Molded Aliphatic Polyurethane Committee published AAMA 113-11 on May 6.
FMC Technical Committee
The FMC Technical Committee changed its name to FMC Green and Sustainability Committee. The Committee’s scope was also revised to reflect the focus on “green and sustainability efforts and opportunities for thermoset fiber reinforced materials.
