AAMA Scholarship Program
The AAMA Scholarship is a one-time award of $2,000. All eligible children of employees of AAMA member companies are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to obtain financial aid for higher education in pursuit of a degree in an engineering or technical field related to the building products industry. Applicants are judged on grade point average, college entrance exam scores and a 500-word essay. Eligible candidates must be high school seniors or college students who are children of employees of AAMA member companies in good standing.
One of the three AAMA-funded scholarships commemorates a significant milestone or achievement for the association. This commemorative award, known this year as the AAMA Certification Gold Label 50th Anniversary Scholarship, will be given to the top-ranking scholarship applicant.
AAMA will be awarding four additional scholarships in 2013 as a result of the generous donations received from the following member companies:
- Acadia Windows & Doors
- AquaSurTech OEM
- Associated Materials
- Blue River Coatings
- GED Integrated Solutions
- MI Windows and Doors
- O’Donnell Architects
- Orca Manufacturing dba Starlight Skylights
- Pella Corporation
- PPG Industries
- Quanex Building Products
- Winco Manufacturing
- VTECH Industries
- Zhong Wang Group
- Zobel North America
The AAMA Scholarship Partner Program is another member benefit that is again being offered in 2013. The Partner Program allows companies to extend an added benefit to their employees’ children with opportunities for financial aid in furthering their education.
Or, if your company already offers a scholarship program, partnering with AAMA can significantly reduce the administrative resources that your company allocates to its program. In the Partner Program, AAMA oversees the program set-up, including the online application process and promotional materials, and also utilizes a third-party selection team to review applications and select scholarship recipients. AAMA will communicate with your company about the status of submitted applications and final winner selection. Additionally, qualified Partner applicants are automatically considered for the AAMA Scholarship Program.
Quanex Building Products, Graham Architectural Products and Milgard Manufacturing have been AAMA Scholarship Partners since the program’s inception in 2003. In 2013, Simonton Windows and Architectural Testing joined as Partners. Candidates with an eligible affiliation with any of these five companies and who fulfill the scholarship’s degree requirements will be considered for the Partner Program awards. Between the five companies, the Partner Program will offer 10 awards in 2013.
If you would like further information about the AAMA Scholarship Program or would like for your company to participate in the Partner Program next year, please visit the AAMA Scholarship Program web page or contact Jannine Klemencic, AAMA’s Association Services Assistant, as soon as possible to ensure your involvement.
