NAFS 2011 Nears Completion; Updated Document to be Released by December 1

October 31, 2011

The Joint Document Management Group (JDMG) continues the process of reviewing AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101/I.S.2/A440-08 NAFS-North American Standard/Specification for windows, doors, and skylights for the next edition to be published in 2011.

The JDMG held a conference call on October 4 to finalize the discussion regarding language contained in Clause 4.1.1 (disclaimer). An editorial change was made, and the JDMG voted to proceed with publication of NAFS-2011. The group also reviewed CSA’s comments to TI-09-01 and TI-10-01, in which both TIs were approved; as such, JDMG will now proceed with publication.

Moving forward, JDMG will discuss the next steps of the committee itself. A conference call has been tentatively scheduled for November 15, for the co-chair and association staff only. The purpose of this call is to conduct a “pre-publication” review of the edits incorporated by CSA’s editorial staff. Another conference call has been planned for mid-December, in order to develop a plan for creation of a NAFS-11 User’s Guide. It is also the group’s intention to discuss possible identification of Certification Agency Criteria.

Currently, the JDMG expects that the document will be released to the general public between November 15 and December 1. NAFS-2011 will have a new cover containing new graphics.

JDMG conference calls and meetings are open to anyone. The only requirement is that you provide prior notice to your association technical advisor so proper arrangements can be made. If you have any additional questions, please contact Ken Brenden, AAMA’s Technical Services Manager.

For agendas, minutes and all other information related to the JDMG, visit AAMA’s Members Only section of the website.
