WELCOME ARCHITECTS, BUILDERS, CONTRACTORS AND OTHER INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS
The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) is made up of window, door, skylight, curtain wall and storefront manufacturers, suppliers and test labs. These large and small companies represent both residential and commercial applications.
What can AAMA offer you?
The AAMA Certification Label provides confidence that the products you choose, when installed properly, match the quality of the sample product tested.
AAMA standards solve critical issues in the industry and are referenced in building codes.
AAMA proactively and effectively drives code development and is influential with regard to construction and specification issues.
In honor of the 50th anniversary of the AAMA Certification Gold Label, the association hosted a contest to find the oldest in-service window, door or skylight bearing an AAMA air-water-structural certification label. The first place winner and runner-up were announced at AAMA's Fall Conference in Baltimore, MD, on October 28.
Hotel reservations are now being accepted for the AAMA 77th Annual Conference in Lake Buena Vista, FL, at the Walt Disney World Swan Resort. The AAMA room rate is $229 per night. Reservations can be made online or by phone by calling 800-227-1500. Be sure to mention AAMA when making your reservation.
Each month, the AAMA e-News features Website Quick Tips that show web users how to navigate portions of the AAMA website, including Members Only. This month's Quick Tip features News and Columns available on the AAMA website.
Finishes on thermoplastic substrates provide aesthetic appeal, but they also serve the purpose of shielding substrates against degradation from environmental factors. These include water that can cause rot or corrosion, ultraviolet (UV) light that can cause fading or embrittlement, overheating from direct sunlight that can cause surface "crazing" and hail impact that can leave dents.
We here at AAMA like to tout that we are the source of performance standards, product certification and educational programs for the window, door and skylight industry. And while our members certainly have enough knowledge about our industry to fill the entirety of Soldier Field (GO BEARS!), we know that industry collaboration something that can benefit our entire association.
Halloween was not only a day for tricks and treats, but it was also a day for fenestration!
Fenestration Day 2013 in conjunction with the Glass Expo Midwest kicked off near the AAMA office in Schaumburg, IL, at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel, October 31. When I say nearby, it was just about five minutes away, so it was really convenient for a few of us to go over and check it out. The staff entourage included Lori Benshoof and Sam Sinkhorn from AAMA’s marketing team.
