BLAST CERTIFICATION
In response to terrorist acts and the threat of more in the future, many agencies, both public and private, are mandating testing and rating of building components for their ability to mitigate the effects of a blast event. Test criteria and levels of protection are being developed for generic and project-specific use. Many government agencies, private building owners, consultants and engineering firms require documentation of the protection level and test criteria of building components and systems.
To address the needs of the industry, AAMA has licensed the use of AAMA 510-06, Guide Specification for Blast Hazard Mitigation for Fenestration Systems, for use as part of the first certification program for blast resistant fenestration products. This, as well as other blast-related documents are covered in the educational course, Introduction to Designing Fenestration for Blast Mitigation.
AAMA and Architectural Testing have been involved with fenestration certification, testing and engineering calculations for over 50 years. Security fenestration certification allows options for open arena testing, shock tube testing, engineering calculations, forced entry resistance and ballistics.
