AAMA Mission

Since 1936, the American Architectural Manufacturers Association has stood as a strong advocate for manufacturers and professionals in the fenestration industry and dedicated to the promotion of quality window, door, curtain wall, storefront and skylight products. And today, as the leading trade association representing both the residential and commercial sectors and all framing materials, our mission remains strong. Building on a solid foundation of achievement in these areas, we continue to:

  • Lead efforts to address the technical and marketing needs of fenestration product manufacturers, suppliers and test labs
  • Work to improve product, material and component performance standards for the fenestration industry
  • Address regulatory issues that affect our membership

Our Members Make a Difference
AAMA is the leading trade association representing window, door, skylight, curtain wall and storefront manufacturers and their suppliers, and our members address issues of critical importance, share experience and knowledge, and participate in efforts to shape the future for the industry.

And, we remain an invaluable resource for our members looking to gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace. Our membership includes almost 300 fenestration product manufacturers and their material and component suppliers as well as more than 100 professional and technical consultant members. What Can AAMA Do for Your Organization?
As a material-neutral organization, AAMA proactively and effectively influences codes, construction and specification issues. In addition, AAMA is active and influential in the Western and Southeast regions of the U.S. With this kind of local, grass roots representation, AAMA provides focus and direction on issues that are of special concern in these areas of the country.

In addition, AAMA began offering the original third-party product certification program over 40 years ago to provide manufacturers with the means to independently demonstrate product performance to their customers via the AAMA Certification Label.

Standards and Code Activities
AAMA members develop and update the standards that are referenced in many national and state building codes. AAMA is actively involved in the International Code Council (ICC) Code Adoptions each year both in the code content as well as the ways that the codes are applied and the manner in which they affect the industry. We are also actively involved in the International Residential Code (IRC), International Building Code (IBC), International Green Construction Code (IgCC) and International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). On both a regional and national basis, AAMA continuously monitors and reports legislative activities to keep members up to date on important developments. We are committed to keeping our members up-to-date on regulatory and codes information and ensuring that our collective voice is heard.

To view detailed information regarding the above organizations and AAMA’s involvement with them, visit the Members Only section of our site. Here you will also find state code website links as well as additional code activities, proposed modifications and code adoption information when provided by state code agencies as researched by AAMA staff.

  • One of the many major benefits of AAMA membership is the opportunity to attend face-to-face meetings with the EPA [and other government organizations]. This is not something most manufacturers ever get the chance to do.

  • I [am] delighted to again serve as the Door Council's First Vice President. ASSA ABLOY strongly believes in the value and commitment AAMA brings to our industry and recognizes the leadership role it fills; we are proud to be associated with AAMA.

  • My company has been an AAMA member continuously for nearly 40 years. Perhaps the greatest value of AAMA membership lies in the opportunity to network one-on-one [during AAMA conferences]. In general, AAMA is very responsive to the needs of the industry, addressing important issues and pursuing solutions to problems. Everyone has an equal voice, a time to be heard and their viewpoint seriously considered.

Is it justified? Absolutely! I can honestly say there has never been a time when I have questioned the value of our investment of time and dollars in AAMA.

  • In the last five years, we started to get involved in AAMA attending both National [conferences] and Regional meetings. AMSCO Windows has found that being involved has been very beneficial in both marketing and product development. The information provided by AAMA has helped our business. I feel we are a stronger company because of the AAMA relationship.

  • VEKA has been a member of AAMA since 1984. The depth of technical knowledge and positive involvement in related issues is a key reason that we consider our AAMA affiliation to be beneficial. In particular, the vinyl profile certification program is extremely important.

Being my company’s representative at AAMA [conferences] for the last 11 years has also been a tremendous benefit to me personally. I am able to discuss technical issues with my peers and have easy access to the vendors, their knowledge and product lines.

Vice President of Engineering & New Business Development
  • Our company has been a member for almost 30 years. We have dedicated our resources to AAMA because we believe by being involved in standards writing, lobbying, and ensuring our window product is installed properly, we can grow and protect our industry.

Our company has benefited not only by participating in the writing and revising of standards that govern our industry, but also by expanding and strengthening contacts with industry vendors and manufacturers at AAMA conferences.
